Recording Hours - initial thoughts

Hello all,

I’m thinking right now about how we log hours for work on the garden project.

I’ll propose a way, and really invite your thoughts on it. This is just my first thought and open to discussion:

If you’re showing up to work on the collective garden, which we’ll just share at swaps and make food out of for potlucks, etc: take your hours from the Madison MAN Cooperative. (Enter that as payer)

If you’re showing up to grow stuff for yourself in space that you didn’t have before, maybe no hours need to be logged, it’s its own reward.

If you’re planting or tending specifically for the owner of the garden, doing exactly what they ask because they’ve requested your help, take hours from them as the payer.

What do you all think? Esty, Cindy, does that feel like what you intended, to get help like you’re hiring people to do what you ask for your garden, offering them MAN hours for it? And if they’re gardening on your land because it’s available, and we’re sharing food and space and work, the MAN itself pays the hours?

One way I look at paying hours is that it is a more formal work relationship and can be easier to ask for and expect exactly what you need, when you’re compensating people for it. It’s in between a job and volunteering.

Again, open to discussion.

Thanks for playing!
